Former Detroit Lions tight end Casey Fitzsimmons talks about his fight for his life after a career ending play. The injury did not kill him, but his mental and emotional battles almost did. His story in an inspiration to those who find themselves in a dark place and feel like there is no way out. Casey began his unlikely path to the NFL playing 8-man football in Chester, Montana. He made the Lions roster as an undrafted free agent and played in the NFL for 7 years and even started his first game. He now advocates on the behalf of other players to have safe transitions from the NFL, both physically and psychologically. He believes the NFL should have a proactive program that monitors former players and removes hurdles to treatment and financial assistance.
